Grafenwoehr is situated at the northwestern border of the Upper Palatian dip (within the Northern Upper Palatian Forest Nature Park) and offers a nice scenic view across a part of the northern Upper Palatinate region. It is bordered in the south and the west by one of Europe’s largest military training areas.
The Grafenwoehr Training Area is one of the most important economic stimuli in the FourCityTriangle (Grafenwöhr, Eschenbach, Kirchenthumbach, Pressath). With more than 2,600 local national employees it is the largest employer in the entire region.
Visit our heated outdoor swimming pool (75°F) with a large pool (six 165 ft. lanes), three diving platforms (5 ft.; 10 ft.; 16 ft.) and a water slide as well as a children’s pool (82°F). The large idyllic lawn invites you to sunbathe and relax. A mini-golf, a billiard- and a table tennis area as well as a volleyball- and soccer field and a playground round out the leisure facilities. Food and beverages are available in the Terrace Café. Parking is available directly in front of the facility. A leisure place for the entire family!
The Grafenwoehr Community Hall offers a variety of possible uses. Built as a multi-purpose facility, it can be used for sports, cultural events, information meetings and community events.
In 2004, the SV TuS/DJK sports club built a modern Sportpark near the local outdoor swimming pool. A sports center with a restaurant, a fully-automated 4-lane kegel alley, a sauna, meeting and training rooms as well as three regular sports fields and one small sports field are located on a 473 616 square meter-area.

The three-story town hall was built in 1462 in Late-Gothic style and serves as the town’s administration building. Up until last century it was used for a variety of purposes: school, fire department storage room, local police station, home of the town servant and night-watchman, prison.
At 2238 ft., the Raw Knoll with its sightseeing platform is a popular regional sight. There is a variety of marked hiking paths surrounding the Raw Knoll.
An active club life is part of any attractive city life. There are 80 different clubs in Grafenwoehr and there is always something going on here!
Anual Festivities and Carnivals
More than 50,000 visitors come to the German-American Volksfest every year. It takes place on the first weekend in August. Furthermore, there are concerts, theater performances and club fests, as well as the traditional Anna Market and Advent Market.
Detailed information about all nine churches in Grafenwoehr and its incorporated communities can be found in the colored and richly illustrated “Gotteshäuser von Grafenwöhr” (Churches of Grafenwoehr). It is available at a cost of 4 Euro in the Historical and Cultural Museum in Grafenwoehr.
The FourCityTriangle combines the strengths of all four communities. Working together is to the advantage of all citizens in our region and constitutes the future way of doing business. For some years, Grafenwöhr has cooperated with the cities of Eschenbach and Pressath -- each city being only 7 kilometers away as the CityTriangle and formed a so-called “medium center,” with regard to its services and economic growth potential . In 2004, the city of Kirchenthumbach was incorporated into the CityTriangle and that’s how it became the FourCityTriangle.
